The Veterans Journey – Offa’s Dyke Path Walk

Offa’s Dyke Path Walk 11 – 20 Oct 19

The Veterans Journey is coordinated by Lynne Gladwin. Lynne worked in nursing for 30 years, as a nurse and veteran she witnessed the often-slow reaction time by charities to those in need of immediate support. This experience drew her to work with Veterans and Ex-Service personnel, and she now devotes her time to providing direct and often rapid support to those most in need.

To raise awareness of the plight of these people and the issues of homelessness and PTSD within their community, Lynne and Karen, the wife of a Veteran, accompanied by a number of blue light and service veterans aim to walk Offa’s Dyke in 10 days. This walk will also provide an opportunity for those involved to connect with other veterans, and process their own past experiences with other like minded companions.

Everyone is welcome to join the walk at any stage or to meet up at the various stops to chat, particularly at the start/end of each day.

To join up with Lynne and those walking please contact her on the number below to establish a meeting point. As the route is long, picking an RV might best be done via text message and the what3words App.

One small caveat, you are kindly requested not to ask questions about what event(s) gave rise to the trauma that now impacts on their lives. By all means ask questions about the work they did and experiences since leaving whichever service.

Though this is an independent endeavour – The team will be accepting donations, which they will donate to First Light Trust
