Leave a Legacy

Leaving a legacy to FirstLight Trust helps us to supply valuable support to veterans of the Armed Forces and Emergency Services. A legacy in your Will means so much to us – any gift, large or small will make a difference. We realise that you will want to provide for your family, but you can also provide lasting help for our charity. This is known as a legacy.

You could choose instead to give us a proportion of your estate – for example 10% or 25%.

In order to leave us a legacy you will need to write a Will (if you do not have one already) or update a Will to include FirstLight Trust. Making a Will is often something that is put off or forgotten but making just a few minutes to write a Will could ensure your family’s peace of mind and enable essential support for veterans.

We have partnered with a national leading law firm, Irwin Mitchell, to provide an easy Will writing solution. Please click on the following link to learn more and give brief instructions to them by completing a short online form. They will then contact you to discuss your instructions and provide a Will that is entirely tailored to your needs.

Irwin Mitchell has discounted their fees for FirstLight Trust; A single Will costs £145 and wills for couples costs £195. Irwin Mitchell then gives a donation to FirstLight for each Will prepared – £15 for a single Will and £20 for Wills for couples. You can therefore benefit the charity by simply taking up the opportunity to make or update your Will.

Just £100 will provide a day’s support work and helps save a life;

£1,000 will support a hub and provide a safe space for veterans in their community.

Case Study – Leaving a Legacy

 BP was one of the first veterans to walk through the FirstLight Café Hub doors when we opened our doors in Gosport. He had served in the Army and loved the idea of supporting fellow veterans of the Armed Forces and also the Emergency Services.

BP frequently enjoyed a pot of tea and tea cake in the Hub; he was so generous and supported FirstLight Trust with every endeavour.

When BP became unwell, he was well supported by the FirstLight team in Gosport, as was his partner JP who continues to use the services available to her. It was a comfort to BP to know JP would have continued support after he passed away.

BP stated that “the charity went above and beyond in supporting me”. It was BP’s wish to leave a legacy to FirstLight Trust and enable the support of the next person who would need it after he was gone.

Please help us to support more veterans like BP by leaving a legacy today.
