FirstLight Trust 2023 in Review

Weekly activities for veterans ran across all FirstLight Trust hubs in Gosport, Hereford and Hawick throughout 2023. These activities included coffee and chat, football, gardening, walks, cycling, quiz nights, model making and cookery.

FirstLight Trust continues to organise veteran activities in Lancaster and Scarborough and offers support in both areas.

2023 also saw the opening of the Falkirk café hub with a dedicated Support Caseworker.

Below are some of the outcomes and achievements of FirstLight Trust over 2023:

  • Over 564 different activities delivered nationally with over 3,000 participants
  • Over 3,000 case notes documenting over 8,000 hours of support, activities, wellbeing, outcomes and results delivered across the UK
  • Over 1,500 veterans supported directly with complex needs and thousands of family members, friends, carers and supporters supported indirectly
  • Over 15,000 veteran visits to the hubs throughout the year
  • Over 200 veterans directly helped into housing within their community including support and advice on rents and benefits that has helped prevent homelessness
  • Provision of over 400 food parcels, and provision of food vouchers to prevent hunger and assist with support for families and budgeting
  • Collaboration with over 200 organisations across the UK to provide food, support, housing, debt relief and provide hope, confidence, and employment; including St Martins in the Field, Shelter, DWP, Alabare, Neighbourly (Lidl, Aldi, Sainsburys, M&S, Asda).
